About Me
I started babysitting when I was 14 years old and from there got into teaching swimming lessons for over 5 years. I have worked with day camps through the University of Calgary and with different organizations with children who have disabilities. I have also coached a variety of sports from middle school aged children up to high school. I love encouraging others and seeing them grow and this is why I have been involved in the lives of children as they are sponges and have immense potential. They are our future and I love that I get to be a part of shaping their lives. I also taught for over 6 years in a variety of teaching positions and grades 1-12. Over the years my experiences of being a teacher and now as a parent I have learned a lot about communication and love. The most important part of any child’s experience is the relationships they have and their ability to communicate. Understanding where someone comes from and learning to understand and share with others is so important. Also communicating their feelings and ideas is essential to understanding a part of who they are becoming and the essence of their heart and intellect. I will work strongly to advocate and teach your child those skills! An effective teacher is not only committed to teaching, but also committed to learning. The same is true of all caregivers and parents. In order to be effective as caregivers and parents we need commitment to learning and building relationships. I am very passionate about children and teenagers. My goal is to give them the tools they need and encourage them to be confident individuals who are able to recognize areas of strength and areas that need work. My goal is that they become productive, responsible, caring citizens that are able to create meaning in their life and the lives of others they encounter. Being a caregiver and opening my home to other children is a great responsibility and privilege. One that I look forward to and will strive to develop healthy relationships and boundaries so everyone can learn, play and have fun! Your children will be well cared for and loved and I look forward to working with your family. |
